I'M NOT A HAPPY CAMPER !!!
I have come to the point of having to decide on a simple (they say) surgery for my carpal tunnel problem. I have rejected and avoided surgery of any kind., for any
problem.opting for more natural treatments, this problem with my numb, burning fingers, and sharp stabs of pain in the wrist have brought me to this day. I have an appointment with a hand specialist.
..after trying cortisone shots (should have known better, they never worked for me on anything before)..the problem has gone from bad to worst, so I will see what his diagnosis is..
it repairable or not? The test I had done 3 yrs ago said the problem was moderate to severe, the latest test said it's severe..sooo I will subject my self to a minor surgerty if suggested with the hope of getting some relief and better use of my hand.
I have a 10:30 appt. today..so I will coninue this blog afterwards.Okay, thapointment was last week Monday.. I will havethe
I liked the doctor, he was very clear on what he will do. The nerve is inflamed and needs to be released from it's captive tissue around it.
He made me feel comfortable about having the proceedure..which I will have on Tuesday the 30th. I'm practicing using my left hand for my needs. Which is a real challenge. I don't have a choice, the numbness and pain in my fingers and wrist is too much.
I continually make typing mistakes because I can't feel the keys, the finger tips burning never stops.
I pray I will get the good results I need..
(to be continued)
I'M HAPPY TO SAY, THE SURGERY IS DONE!!!
HAPPIER TO SAY HOW WELL EVERYTHING WENT.
Because I have a huge problem with drugs (pain killers, mood altering, sedatives, etc.)..I avoid surgeries but also, I prefer a natural solution when possible..
My experience with Dr. Curtis Crimmens was totally outstanding.. I felt confident right from my initial appointment. His explanation of my problem and what he would do put
me at ease right away. His staff did the testings on my fingers, etc. with professional expertise and a warm interest in my problem.
The surgery center staff
was outstanding…starting with the check in paperwork and to the pre-op, to the surgical team, and post-op and anesthesiologist. The doctor coming in to mark the area ...all were kind and put me at ease. Taking care of my special needs…such
as...needing a firm support under my neck because I have positional dizziness…also the iv insertion in my hand, (had been very painful in experiences) Alex was so good at her work, I never felt the needle being inserted, extra information about
avoiding the extreme nausea I've had in the past was taken in to consideration.
Wheeled into the OR, oxygen mask on, next thing I knew I was in recovery,
alert and most completely awake. DOC CAME TO SAY EVERYTHING WAS GOOD, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK TO REMOVE STITCHES, instructions given to me and my son, who took me there, (I do not hear well without my hearing aids, so Steve could repeat the instructions to me later).....IT
WENT EASY PEASY. Mostly doe to the great staff, taking such good care of a nervous Nelly like me. The nurse called me the next day to check on how I was doing, re: pain and swelling, etc. which I had and have very little..some pinching feeling,
no swelling..only discomfort is the tight bandage..but that's okay..
Because the damage was severe, I
may still have some tingling in mt fingers for a longer healing time..but I am confident of a great end result. I'm grateful to God for these caring medical professionals, and the talents God gave them. I recommend Dr. Curtis Crimmens to anyone that needs
hand etc. and shoulder help.
A follow up with my successful procedure is next week.
This was the day the Lord had made, I rejoiced in it......Psalm118:24
