...You get them from your kids!
My photo, birds and trees are flowering...spring is on its way.
I really enjoy the changing seasons. I look forward to the new life budding all around me very soon.. Flowers peeking through the snow, tree's budding out, and the most enjoyable, hearing the song of the birds.
Let's think on those things, not the BLAHS of winter and AGING...
Here are some humorous lines from a book by Ed Fischer called YOU'RE NO SPRING CHICKEN..there
really is a funny side to being over 50, 60, etc.
*Laugh and the world laughs with you, snore and you sleep alone
- Anthony Burgess
*When you get older it takes a lot longer to do nothing" - Catharine
Brandt
*If I had my life to live over I'd do the same things only sooner
-
Tallulah Bankhead
*If you had your life to over again - you'd need more money. - -- - Constitution Digest
*Youth is a gift of nature, but age is a work of art" - Garson Kanin
*Getting old ain't for sissies...The famous line Bette Davis said in her academy award role as Margo Channing in "All
about Eve"
I like TV better than movies - it's not so far to the bathroom.
- Cecil B. DeMille
*You know you're getting old when you have to sit down to brush your
teeth.
*Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died. - Erma Bombeck
* If life is a bowl of cherries, why do I get the pits. - Erma Bombeck
Why does the word "retirement' stir
up so many mixed emotions? For some, it signals an end. For others, it marks anticipated beginnings.
"By the grace of God I am what I am,"1 Corinthians

An article from the book "Coming of Age Gracefully"
Unanswered Prayer by Elise Maclay
How satisfying it is
On this gray November day
to brew pot after pot
of coffee
While I pursue
My own projects
At my own pace
In my own way.
Anyone I want or need
to talk to
Is as near as the phone.
On the other hand,
Working alone
I get more done.
Have more ideas.
My time is not taken up with meetings,
Office politics, polite greetings.
Even the much touted
Support system
I had as an executive -
Secretary, file clerk, switchboard operator -
Got in the way of the
Free-wheeling creativity
That sparks my day
Now that I'm retired.
I never dreamed it would be
Like this.
Ideas tumbling one over the other.
I thought I'd sink in unstructured
time.
Instead, I'm just beginning to see
What a lead weight the routine of an office can be.
Oh God, thank you
For not listening
When I begged you not to let them
Retire me.
What an inspiration this article is to me.
My prayer for everyone in the Silver years is, Take advantage of the time you have been given to enjoy and share the memories
and wisdom you have acquired over the years. Look to the sunshine not the shadows of life. Keep humor in your heart and on your lips.
I hope you enjoyed this look at life on the other side
of the hill.!
"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it"
Psalm 118:24
