A new season begins

Looking forward!

The birds are storing up fat and energy, getting ready for winter..(my picture cick to enlarge)

The end of summer.. Intoducing the fall season !

"For Everything there is a Season." -

                                           Ecclesiates 3;1

We leave the summer vacations, the extra time with the children, the summer festivals, walks in the park, the fishing trips, the fireworks on the 4th of July, the outdoor picnics and BBQ's..All the outdoor fun and good times,

BUT..we also leave behind the mosquitos, the noise of the road repairs, the humidity, the 90o days..(tho we certainly were blessed this summer, it was cooler than usual, with few exceptions of high heat)..

The good, bad and the ugly??

In my world, it was mostly good..met new friends, enjoyed events in and around town..worked at Festa Italiana, and Irish Fest and enjoyed the music and special foods. BBQ's at Life Church Brookfield Campus, and a special free event at the Zoo, given to Life Church team volunteers..which was very nice, got to visit some of the exhibits, enjoyed a great meal and applauded the 'volunteers' of the year..

How was your summer?  I hope you were able to store up some great memories with family and friends.

Now it's time to accept the changing season..Looking forward to a very colorful fall and I pray a mild winter.

The sight of falling leaves after they have displayed their beautiful colors for us, is very special..

The days are shorter, and there is a reward of longer nights of sleep.  Cool breezes and the smell of burning leaves.

I'm not into Halloween..but I enjoy the displays of pumpkins, dried cornstalks and fall flowers that you see gracing porches and front doors. Hmmm, even the aroma of an apple or pumpkin pie is a treat.

Maybe you like to put up preserves for the winter..

This time of year reminds me of my mom preparing and canning home made pickels, harvard beets, a spicy blend of veggies, like carrots, cauliflower, wax beans, pearl onions, etc. spices and of course garlic..which she opened during the Christmas Holidays as a condiment.

Fall is the perfect time for long walks in the woods..take in the beautiful changing colors, enjoy the crunch of leaves under your feet..Inhale the crisp cool air..Take time to embrace the changes in the season and yourself..

"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."
