Are you aging wisely??

Aging is a fact of life..but...

The logo for my website

I like this picture..It reminds me of the tree of life !

My new website,  offers products that help us to age gracefully and with style..It also offers some things for those of us that may need some extra help.

Aging wisely? what does that mean?

Aging is a fact of life, getting too "old" is not !

As we move up into our senior years we may find we're missing some of the things we 'use' to do.

But, that's the past, moving forward to that 'ripe old age' allows us to do many things we could not, or would not do when we were younger, Because of the time at our jobs,  obligations to a growing family..

There have been a lot of quips, jokes, etc. said about aging !!  for instance...

who cares if I stay up until 3am to finish a good book..

or write on a blog at 2am !!!

I can stay in my night gown all day if I feel like it !

I'll eat my dinner in front of TV if I want ...watching the Packers game of course !

The list goes on..I'm sure you can fill in a few.

Enjoying this age needs a positive attitude about who we are,  looking for new challanges to keep active ..mentally and physically.

Meeting and making new friends, keeping a close relationship with family and old friends.  Joining a group at a social club or a church.

...I have a wonderful church family and work with our "Honor Society" , that's our group of 'active' over 50's..

We plan monthly events, such as a day trip in around Wisconsin, and at times Illinois.

We plan a 'game or movie day'.. group lunch at a restaurant after Sunday service, plays or fact one is coming up at the Fireside Theater in March.

We take week long or long weekend trips..the last one was on a riverboat cruise up the Missippi River from LeClaire, Iowa to Dubuque, Ia. and back (it was great fun)..

We're in the planning stage for our next week long trip in September.  I can't give away the possible destination until it's firmed up, but I KNOW it will be a great trip that everyone will look forward and want to go on.

I'll be happy to put you on our mailing list for the quarterly events planned for this year.  These outtings give us so much pleasure, enjoying things with friends, and making new friends, filling our days with laughter and adventure.

I mention the group I'm most active with just to illustrate the wonderful activities available to us even though we're getting up in years. Anyone can join us..your all welcome.

Many of us are living alone, but that doesn't mean living a lonely life.  Joining others for special activities is very rewarding..volunteering to help special group projects can also be especially fulfilling..

Start a book club or a walking club, start a bible study, ask friends to ask their friends to join you and AGE WISELY...Remember live, love and laugh.

"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it "! Psalm 118:22

I  just received this and had to add it to my latest blog ...i thought you would enjoy reading exactly what I was talking about..FREEDOM to be this age !!

As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself.  I've become my own friend.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon;  before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon?  I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.  They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.  But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.  And, I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken.  How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?  But, broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion.  A heart never broken is pristine and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.  So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive.  You care less about what other people think.  I don't question myself anymore.  I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old.  It has set me free.  I like the person I have become.  I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.  And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).
